    German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made headlines in October 2025 with his comment about the “problem in the cityscape” caused by, according to conservative-right voices, the influx of migration starting ten years ago (Grasnick). He reiterates and underpins a broader attitude in German society that perceives the diversity of nationalities among German whiteness as a problem. This is not only regarded as an issue in Germany but is viewed as a threat to the imagined white hegemony in Europe. In this logic, migration to and diasporic presences in Europe are viewed as a problem in their power to undermine such constructions.…

    Yáng Shuāng-zǐ’s 2020 award-winning novel, Taiwan Travelogue is a historiographic metafictional examination of Japanese colonialism as situated within the prism of global imperial motions. In this essay, I argue that Taiwan Travelogue queers Japanese imperial history by exposing colonial power as simultaneously mimetic, heteronormative, and unstable.

    Dear visitor, thank you so much for being here! What you currently see here is the result of almost two years of work, with some changes among the founding members and many obstacles to overcome.
